HEAR YE, HEAR YE, HEAR YE
Dear Potomac Division Colleagues:
This is the first announcement for the 57th Annual Meeting of the Potomac Division of the American Phytopathological Society to be held at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center in Cromwell, CT on October 17-19, 2001. (We realize this announcement is somewhat belated and time is of the essence). Please check the information online at NED-POT2001-cromwell.html . This will be the fourth joint meeting of the Potomac and Northeast Divisions. Once again, this year's joint meeting promises to be very exciting and informative, and represents an excellent opportunity to meet friends and colleagues from both divisions. The Radisson is easily accessible by air (Hartford Airport) and car, so please make plans now to attend this year's meeting.
Nominations: We will be nominating a new Vice-president to serve from October 2001 to March 2003. We will be nominating a new Potomac Division Councilor to serve a 3-yr term from 2001 to 2004, replacing Erik Stromberg. We also are requesting nominations for the Potomac Division Distinguished Service Award. Nominations are to be sent to the Nominations Committee Chair Bob Mulrooney (bobmul followed by @udel.edu) by September 14, 2001 at the latest so election ballots can be included in the second mailing September 21st.
Titles and Abstracts: Titles and Abstracts must be received by September 17, 2001. Titles/authors alone are acceptable if you want to be scheduled for a presentation but an abstract should be submitted if the presenter would like to have the abstract published by APS. If close to the deadline, abstracts should be emailed to mld9 followed by @cornell.edu and faxed to Margery Daughtrey at 631-727-3611. There will be a graduate students competition for the Potomac Division, separate from the competition for the Northeast Division.

The original of the abstract plus a check or money order for $30.00 are required for publishing on APSNET and in Phytopathology.
